Client:
Committee of 100
Research Statement:
Committee of 100 unveiled a state-by-state analysis of the prevalence of existing policy and potential legislation requiring the teaching of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) history and contributions in K-12 social studies curriculum. Committee of 100 researchers analyzed the laws, regulations, bills, and publicly available curriculum standards of the 50 states and the District of Columbia to determine which states have existing K-12 AAPI or ethnic studies curriculum requirements or legislative action that would enact such requirements.
Design Objectives:
To design a printable and downloadable PDF document for the research paper which includes tables, charts, and maps.
Challenges:
Initially, I envisioned the PDF to be in spread mode (two portrait pages together) but then considered it has to be printable, I switched it back to the single page mode and minimized the use of big blocks of colors (waste of ink.)
I also made the PDF interactive with clickable table of contents and “going back” buttons.
And above are the few highlighted pages! As the regulations and laws change over time, the info will be updated as well. For the most up-to-date and complete research paper in PDF, please visit C100’s website.
